M.Phil Clinical Psychology at Institute of Mental Health (IMH)

Important information for all interested candidates who want to get admission to M.Phil Clinical Psychology. Institute of Mental Health (IMH), Kilpauk, Chennai is inviting applications for the M.Phil Clinical Psychology course, for the academic session 2023.

About the Institute

The Institute of Mental Health (IMH) is a recognized institute by the Rehabilitation Council of India. This institute has 10 seats for the M.Phil in Clinical Psychology program. The seats are equally allotted between both genders. However, in case of the non-availability of candidates of either gender, the remaining seats will be filled by available candidates. The IMH is affiliated with Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Guindy, Chennai – 600 032.

Eligibility Criteria for IMH M.Phil Clinical Psychology Admissions

The candidates must satisfy the below-mentioned eligibility criteria in order to apply for the M.Phil Clinical Psychology course at IMH.

  • The candidate must be a Resident of India.
  • The students must have a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Psychology/Applied Psychology/Counseling Psychology/Clinical Psychology with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate.
  • Both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees should be in full-time regular mode and such degrees must have been verified by the University Grant Commission (UGC).
  • There is an exception for different categories of candidates. For SC/SCA/ST/BC/BCM/MBC categories minimum of 50% marks in aggregate is mandatory.
  • Candidates who have completed VIII to XII standards and undergraduate and postgraduate education in schools and colleges respectively in Tamil Nadu, need not enclose a “Nativity Certificate”.
  • Candidates who are native of Tamil Nadu but studied from VIII to XII standard or Under Graduation or Graduation either partially or completely in Schools/ Colleges situated in the outskirts of Tamil Nadu must organize a native certificate.
  • The Certificate of Nativity in Tamil Nadu should be offered by the competent authority only in the
  • specified format accessible in the application form and assisted by a copy of the passport/ Ration Card/ Birth Certificate.
  • The application presented without a proper Nativity Certificate shall not be considered.
  • Permanent Residence Certificates shall not be welcome.

Documents Required

  • Birth Certificate or copy of H.Sc Certificate / School Leaving Certificate /College Leaving Certificate
  • Recent passport-size photographs.
  • Marks sheet of first to final year/semester
  • Nativity certificate with assisting documents.
  • Transfer certificate received after completion of M.A./M.Sc Psychology degree course
  • Permanent Community Certificate Card
  • M.A./M.Sc Psychology Degree course completion certificate from the head of the institution studies.
  • Attempt certificate of final year/semester in M.A./M.Sc Psychology degree from the head of institution studies.
  • Bachelor’s degree certificate in Psychology from an approved University.
  • Originality Certificate with assisting documents (If applicable)

Entrance Exam Pattern

  • The entrance exam question paper will include Multiple Choice Questions(MCQ) at the postgraduate level. The period of the test will be 120 minutes.
  • The questions will be carrying 1 mark each.
  • There will be a Negative Marking of ¼ marks i.e. 0.25 for incorrect response.
  • Multiple responses to one question will be considered incorrect and will receive a zero mark.

  • The application fee is ₹2,000/- (Non-Refundable). There will be no application fee for SC/ ST/ SCA Candidates.
