About UGC NET/JRF Psychology Important Topics

The UGC NET/JRF is a nationwide examination that targets to commence the qualifications of Indian citizens. This Exam aims to qualify aspirants for posts like Assistant Professors and Junior Research Fellows (JRF), as well as Assistant Professors (NET), in universities and colleges in the country. What is National Testing Agency (NTA)?

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), now known as the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India has commenced the National Testing Agency (NTA) as a self-determining, independent dominant testing entity. It came into existence for conducting effective and international standards tests for assessing the competency of applicants for admissions to Higher Education Institutions.

National Testing Agency is responsible to present effective and international standards tests for assessing the competency of applicants for admission, and recruitment purposes. It is also tasked with initiating research into educational, vocational, and examination systems to identify deficiencies in knowledge systems and implement strategies to address them.

The NTA conducts the UGC NET Psychology Exam, and prospective candidates register with the aspiration of performing successfully in it.  All applicants, who have received a Master’s degree from an authorized university are eligible to apply for the exam. About UGC NET/JRF Paper 1

The UGC NET/JRF Paper I is a comprehensive paper, which is applicable to all subjects. This exam targets to assess proficiency in both teaching and research Proficiencies. The main objective of Paper I is to determine the teaching and research capabilities of the candidates. It is the expectation of candidates to show their thinking abilities, which include understanding, thinking deeply, evaluating, grasping how arguments work, and making logical conclusions. In addition, applicants are predicted to possess a broad awareness of teaching and learning dynamics within higher and better education. Moreover, they should know the interplay among individuals, their surroundings, natural resources, and their influence on quality of life.

Pattern of UGC-NET

The National Testing Agency (NTA) usually conducts the UGC NET in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. This test contains two papers. Both papers are in the form of objective type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). Candidates must note that there is no break between the papers during the exam.

Medium of Examination

The medium of attending the exam is in English and Hindi except those papers which belong to language. candidates must elect the language option carefully while filling out the application form. Once the applicants selected the option, they cannot change that. It is indispensable to respond to the exam in the language they selected at the time of filing the application form. In case of uncertainty of translation of questions in the exam, the English version will be the final consideration as well as the decision of NTA will be last in this regard.

Marking Scheme in UGC NET/JRF

In the UGC NET/JRF Exam, each question carries two marks. For giving the correct response for each, the candidate will get two marks for each question. There is No Negative marking in this exam for incorrect responses. Candidates should note that there is no marking for questions Un-Attempted, Un-Answered or marked for Review. Candidates will have to elect options in order to respond to one question. If a question is found to be incorrect or has multiple correct responses, only those applicants who have responded to the question and chosen one of the correct answers will be considered as correct.

If it’s found that a question is inaccurate or the question is dropped, then two marks (+2) will be given only to those applicants who responded to the question. The reason for inaccurate questions might be due to human mistakes or technical errors. As there is no negative marking, it is the suggestion to applicants to choose one nearest option as the correct answer.
